Plain-language terms for joining a vtrn.ai conversation.

vtrn.ai is a research platform operated by VTRN Labs, Inc., a Delaware corporation. It connects members of the U.S. military community with paid, AI-moderated voice-based interview opportunities sponsored by companies, brands, foundations, agencies, and researchers. These terms explain what you agree to when you sign up and participate.

1. Who can participate

You must be at least 18 years old and a member of the U.S. military community to participate. The military community includes active-duty service members, veterans of any era, Reserve and National Guard members, retirees, and immediate family members of any of the above.

You confirm these things are true about you each time you accept a vtrn.ai interview.

2. What participation looks like

An interview is a voice conversation between you and vtrn.ai's AI voice moderator. You are talking to an artificial intelligence, not a human. Interviews typically last between three and thirty minutes depending on the study. The AI asks questions; you speak; the conversation is recorded and transcribed automatically.

You can pause, end, or decline to answer any question at any time, and doing so will not penalize you.

3. Recording and consent

Every vtrn.ai interview is recorded. By joining an interview and speaking, you are giving vtrn.ai your express consent to record, transcribe, store, and use the audio and transcript of that conversation as described in these Terms and in our Privacy Policy.

Before recording begins in any interview, the AI voice moderator will confirm your consent one more time. If you decline, no recording is made and the interview does not proceed.

4. AI voice moderator disclosure

vtrn.ai uses artificial intelligence to conduct interviews. The voice you hear is generated by AI, not a live human interviewer. Our AI is designed to listen actively, ask thoughtful follow-up questions, and treat you with respect. It is not a clinician, attorney, or advisor. See Section 12 for what vtrn.ai is not.

5. Voice biometrics — what we do and do not do

vtrn.ai does not create, use, sell, share, or retain voice biometric identifiers (voiceprints) as defined by the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA) or comparable laws in other states. We record and transcribe the content of your conversation. We do not run voice recognition to identify individuals from their voice, and we do not use voice modeling to build a biometric profile of you.

6. Payment

Most vtrn.ai interviews are paid. The amount, payment method (typically a digital gift card or direct deposit), and timing are stated up front before you accept a specific study. You will only be paid for interviews you complete to the extent specified in that study's terms.

vtrn.ai does not guarantee that you will be matched to any particular paid study. Matching depends on your profile and on the studies that are currently active.

7. Honest, good-faith answers

You agree to answer honestly and in good faith. We do not penalize you for any specific opinion. We do reserve the right to exclude responses (and pause your account) if there is evidence of fraudulent, automated, or bad-faith participation.

8. How your responses are used

Your responses are aggregated into research deliverables for the customer who commissioned the study. Deliverables are de-identified: your name, email address, phone number, and any other directly identifying information are removed before anything is shared with a customer.

9. Health-sensitive topics

Some studies may touch on sensitive subjects including physical or mental health, disability, VA care, PTSD, TBI, or exposure-related conditions. Participation in any such study is voluntary. You can decline to answer any question, and the study will disclose sensitive topics up front so you know before you accept.

10. Future paid studies

By signing up, you agree that vtrn.ai may contact you about future paid studies that match your profile, using email, SMS, and/or voice calls.

11. Intellectual property

You retain ownership of your own voice, your own opinions, and any content you share. By participating, you grant VTRN Labs, Inc. a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and adapt your recording, transcript, and structured responses for the purpose of producing research deliverables, improving the platform, and complying with legal obligations.

vtrn.ai owns the research outputs, including transcripts, coded themes, analytical summaries, and any composite deliverables shared with a customer. Aggregated, de-identified insights may also be reused for benchmarking, product improvement, and platform research.

12. Things vtrn.ai is not

vtrn.ai is a research platform. It is not a medical service, mental health service, legal service, financial service, or veterans benefits service. The AI voice moderator is not a clinician, attorney, or advisor. If you need help with a benefits claim, a medical issue, or a personal crisis, please contact a qualified provider. In a crisis, you can reach the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by dialing or texting 988, and veterans can press 1 after dialing.

13. Account and termination

You may close your vtrn.ai participant account at any time by emailing aaron@vtrn.ai. We may suspend or close your account at our discretion if we reasonably believe you have violated these terms or applicable law.

14. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

vtrn.ai is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. VTRN Labs, Inc. disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, VTRN Labs, Inc.'s aggregate liability arising out of or relating to your use of vtrn.ai will not exceed the total compensation you have received for participating in vtrn.ai interviews over the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to liability.

15. Dispute resolution and governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your participation will be resolved through binding individual arbitration administered by JAMS under its Streamlined Arbitration Rules, seated in Wilmington, Delaware, unless applicable law requires otherwise. You and VTRN Labs, Inc. each waive the right to a jury trial and the right to participate in a class action or class arbitration.

Nothing in this section prevents either party from seeking equitable relief in court for intellectual property or confidentiality matters, or from bringing an individual claim in small-claims court.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to active participants by email and posted here with a new effective date. Continued participation after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
