If you ever want to be removed from the network entirely, text STOP to the number we use and you're out. Your profile and all stored conversations get permanently deleted within 7 days. No survey, no friction, no follow-up sales call.

Things you might be wondering.

Is this actually AI on the phone, or a real person?
It's an AI. And it's good. Most members can't tell after the first 30 seconds, and the ones who can prefer it — no rushing, no judgment, no one trying to sell you something. We use voice agents from Vapi + ElevenLabs running on prompts we wrote specifically for veteran research. If you ever want a human researcher instead, ask and we'll route the next call to one.
How much can I actually make from this?
Depends on how many studies you fit. Most active members do 1–3 calls per month, so $40 to $225 per month is typical. Heavy users in high-demand cohorts (women veterans, post-9/11, specific ratings) clear $400 to $600 per month. We don't push studies that don't fit you, so volume is honest, not gamed.
Who's actually paying for these studies?
Companies and government agencies that build products and programs for the military community — health insurers, federal contractors, VA-adjacent organizations, financial services firms, and consulting partners (Booz, Deloitte, etc.) running primary research for federal clients. They pay vtrn.ai, vtrn.ai pays you. We never share your name with them.
Can I opt out of any topic?
Yes. Two ways: (1) ignore any study invite text — no penalty. (2) Tell our AI mid-call you don't want to discuss something. We'll skip it and still pay you for the call. Topics you decline get noted so you don't get re-invited.
What if I'm in crisis during a call?
Our AI is trained to recognize crisis signals — suicide, harm, severe distress. It pauses, gives you the Veterans Crisis Line (988, press 1 — or text 838255), and asks if you want to keep going, take a break, or end the call. Whatever you pick, we honor. You still get paid.
Is this affiliated with the VA or DoD?
No. vtrn.ai is an independent research platform. We work with organizations that serve the military community, but we are not a government agency, not a non-profit, and not affiliated with any specific service branch.
Will my answers be used against me?
No. We never share your name, contact info, or identifiable details with customers. Customers see anonymized themes ("post-9/11 vets in Texas") and pull-quotes ("a respondent said..."). Nothing you say in a vtrn.ai call can be used in benefits decisions, security clearance reviews, or anywhere that affects your service or VA standing.
What about my information — what happens if I want it deleted?
Text STOP to our number. Within 7 days, your profile, all stored conversations, all transcripts, all derived attributes — gone. You'll get an email confirmation when it's complete. No survey, no exit interview, no "are you sure?" friction.
